SALEM – Terry Collins twirled a complete-game shutout, striking out seven while surrendering one walk, as Telstar cruised to an 11-0 win over Mt. Abram in MVC baseball play on Friday.
Kevin Zinchuck carried the big bat for the Rebels (7-5), blasting a three-run home run and adding a two-run double for the afternoon.
Collins helped his own cause with a pair of singles in the lopsided win.
Rob Thorndike took the loss for the Roadrunners (7-5).
Buckfield 4, Valley 1
BUCKFIELD – Jamie Henderson had eight strikeouts, allowed five hits and walked two as Buckfield downed Valley 4-1 in baseball action on Friday.
Henderson helped is own cause by knocking out three hits and driving in two of the Bucks’ (7-4) runs.
Teammates Matt Lowell and Chris Reuter each finished the game with two hits.
Cote Poulin took the loss for the Cavaliers, who fall to 5-5 with the loss.
Kucas Melcher had the sole extra base hit for Valley, a double late in the game.
Mt. View 8, Oak Hill 2
WALES – Tyler Mills went the distance, giving up four hits and striking out five, to lead Mt. View to an 8-2 victory over Oak Hill in baseball action on Friday.
Mike Mayer had two hits along with two RBIs, and Steve Miles hit a two-run double in the second inning for Mt. View. For Oak Hill, Justin Plourde hit an RBI single in the first that scored Ethan Guerette.
Mt. Ararat 4, EL 2
TOPSHAM – Nate Sherwood hit a two-run single in the second that scored Marshall Chick and Nick Cloutier to give Mt. Ararat a 2-1 lead as the Eagles went on to defeat Edward Little 4-2 in a KVAC baseball matchup.
Keenan Baker went the distance and gave up six hits to pick up the win for the Eagles.
Edward Little’s Matt Nadeau doubled and scored on a fielders’ choice by Robie Leighton, and Kevin Pontbriand was the only repeat hitter of the game. Both teams came in with (9-3) records.
Leavitt 12, Lawrence 5
TURNER – Justin Rouillard rapped out three safeties and Adam Knight added a pair of doubles as Leavitt downed Lawrence 12-5 in KVAC baseball action on Friday.
Rouillard, Adam Sawyer, Knight, and Brandon Powell each were repeat hitters for Leavitt, with Sean Doyle going the distance on the mound for the Hornets (3-9).
The Bulldogs (5-8) were paced by Garrett Parker and Matt Gorman with a pair of safeties.
Winthrop 11, Livermore Falls 1
LIVERMORE FALLS – Chip Burnham smacked a two-run home run in the first to propel Winthrop to an 11-1 win over Livermore Falls in baseball action on Friday.
Winthrop’s Jason Allen had two hits, including a double. Corey Gillespie pitched a two-hitter to pick up the win for Winthrop (9-2).
Levi Armandi doubled for Livermore Falls (7-6).
Poland 9, Fryeburg 0
POLAND – Alex Smith pitched a complete-game two-hitter with 12 strikeouts to lead Poland to a 9-0 victory over Fryeburg in a WMC baseball contest Friday.
Smith also hit an RBI triple in the sixth that scored Dartanyan Bourget, while Stevie Ray chipped in with two RBIs for the Knights.
Poland catcher Jeremy Callahan doubled in Joe Douglas.
Lacrosse
St. Dom’s 13, Fryeburg 4
AUBURN – Kevin Laplante found the back of the net five times and added a pair of assists to power St. Doms to a 13-4 win over Fryeburg Academy in boys’ lacrosse action.
The Saints (5-4) scored eight goals at the end of the second period as Tavian MacKinnon, Ben Shaw, and Andrew Gilbert each added a pair of goals in the lopsided victory.
Brian Kasabian made six saves on 12 shots to register the win in goal.
The Raiders (0-8) were led by Matt Dutan who tallied all four of their goals.
