LEWISTON — The Bates men’s lacrosse team lost its fourth straight game on Wednesday, falling to Bowdoin 11-5.
Bowdoin (9-4) opened the scoring on a goal by Vinay Kashyap three minutes into play. Bates (8-4) tied the score on Pete Friedman’s unassisted goal, but Ford Baker tallied another for the Polar Bears, who led 2-1 at the end of the first quarter. The Bobcats picked up their scoring in the second quarter with three goals by Justin Simon, Brent Morin, and Wes Couture, but Bowdoin retained the lead at halftime.
The Polar Bears dominated play in the second half, scoring six unanswered goals to go up 11-4 at the start of the fourth quarter.
John Kinnane notched the final goal of the game for Bates. Bobcats’ goaltender Paul Kazarian finished with 10 saves.
Baseball
Husson 3, Bowdoin 0
Husson 18, Bowdoin 11
BANGOR — The Husson baseball squad swept a double-header from Bowdoin in collegiate baseball action Wednesday. Husson (23-14) won the first game 3-0 on the strength of a complete game, three hit shutout by starter Travis Tripp. Tripp only walked one batter and finished with four strikeouts over the seven innings. Bill Kane, Chris McInnis, and Jason Harvey had an RBI each in the game while Kyle Mathieu’s two hit performance made him the only repeat hitter in the game. Bowdoin (15-11) starter Pat Quinn was saddled with the loss, allowing five hits and two earned runs in six innings of work.
Game two saw an offensive explosion by both teams as Husson outslugged Bowdoin 18-11. Designated hitter Sean Brawn was an offensive force for Husson going 3-for-4 with six RBI. Bill Kane and Steve Estes added two RBI each while first baseman Kyle Mathieu went 3-for-3 including an RBI single. Ricky Leclerc led the Polar Bears with three RBI while second baseman Nick Lawler finished 3-for-4 with two RBI in the losing cause.
