LIVERMORE FALLS – Bailey Davis poured in a game-high 13 points along with three 3-pointers as Telstar defeated Livermore Falls 52-42 in an (MVC) girls’ basketball contest Thursday night.

Abby Wentworth also added 11 for the Rebels (10-6). Majorie DeBrosky led Livermore Falls (4-11) with 12 points.

Mountain Valley 36, Winthrop 26

RUMFORD – Junior guard Kristen Arsenault recorded 12 points to help give Mountain Valley a 36-26 triumph over Winthrop in MVC girls’ basketball action on Senior Night Thursday evening.

With a scant three-point lead, the Falcons (6-10) found a groove in the third quarter with an 8-0 run for a 28-17 lead. Senior center Sasha Theriault aided Mountain Valley in its scoring effort with eight rebounds.

The Ramblers’ (8-8) junior center Emilie Knight and sophomore guard Katie Pushard had identical scoring efforts with four field goals and a free throw for nine points apiece.

Mt. Abram 37, Carrabec 34

NORTH ANSON – Emily Stinchfield tallied a team-high nine points to lead Mt. Abram to a 37-34 victory over Carrabec on Thursday.

Lyn Plog and Brianna Wilkins scored six points apiece for the Roadrunners. The Roadrunners were down 23-16 at halftime, but rallied in the second half to pull out a victory.

Alicia Tingly scored a game-high 14 points while Tiffany Gurney scored nine for the winless Cobras (0-16).

Hyde 53, Hebron 21

BATH – Shinikwa James dropped in 22 points to lead Hyde to a 53-21 rout over Hebron Academy in girls’ basketball action Thursday.

The Phoenix conducted a balanced attack as Jabriah Faustin and Eliza Shakel recorded eight points apiece.

Amy Shackford led the Huskies with a pair of field goals, including one from beyond the arc for five points.

Monmouth 42, Georges Valley 38

MONMOUTH – Monmouth executed a well-balanced attack to overtake Georges Valley, 42-38, in MVC girls’ basketball action on Thursday.

The Mustangs (8-8) led 22-13 at the half.

Sophomore center Courtney Barrett hit a jumper with less than a minute remaining to retake a 39-38 lead for Monmouth. Senior guard Bianca Cloutier went 3-for-4 from the line in the final seconds for her only points of the game to seal the victory.

Senior guard Heather Watts notched a game-high 11 points for the Buccaneers (6-10).

Boys’ basketball

Mt. Blue 49, Waterville 37

FARMINGTON – Junior forward Steve Wells drained a game-high 16 points to lead Mt. Blue to a 49-37 win over Waterville in KVAC boys’ basketball action Thursday.

The Cougars (8-5) set the tone in the third quarter by holding the Panthers to four points, improving on a 21-18 halftime lead for a 12-point advantage. Senior center Ted Neil contributed 15 points in the winning effort.

The Panther offense was led by senior center Andy Vayo, who had 14 points on five field goals and four free throws.

Pine Tree 79, Buckfield 55

BUCKFIELD – Senior forward Jerrod Verrill burned up the boards with 32 points to power Pine Tree Academy to a 79-55 rout over Buckfield in EWC boys’ basketball action Thursday.

In a characteristically fast paced game, the Breakers (12-2) applied most of the damage in the first half, snagging a 41-22 advantage at intermission. Gatthuk Deng contributed 13 points, while Ben Goodall tallied another 10 points for Pine Tree.

Verrill nailed nine field goals, including five of the three-point variety

Junior forward Sean Ridge recorded nine points for the Bucks (7-10).

Hockey

Hebron 3, Kents Hill 3

HEBRON – Channing Tobey found the back of the net at the 10:25 mark to tie the hockey game at 3-3 and that’s how it ended on Thursday evening.

Kents Hill took an early lead with a goal from Matt Dougherty on a pass from Tobey at the 2:16 mark.

Hebron’s three goals were scored by Erik Rousseau, Justin Stewart and Roman Gosney.
