RUMFORD — Norma M. Richard, 80, of Rumford, died Tuesday, Dec. 5, at the Rumford Hospital.

Norma Richard was the daughter of Thomas and Jeannette (Berube) Welch, born in Jay on June 9, 1937, and brought up in Livermore on the West Side. Norma went to St. Rose of Lima School and Riverside Grammar School. She attended her freshman year at Sacred Heart Academy in Jackman and later transferred to Livermore Falls High School, graduating Class of 1956.

Norma was in several school plays and was a majorette for the high school band. Growing up, Norma took tap dancing and ballet for seven years at Ellen Cooper Dance Studio. At that time, Norma was in many recitals at the Augusta Civic Center. Norma married Maynard Harlow II in 1956. She had two sons, Maynard III and Steve Harlow. Norma later on in her life married Robert Richard in 1964, and had two daughters, Darlene Jane Poulin and Noreen Hare. Norma spent 37 years with her beloved husband, Bob, who passed away May 31, 2000.

She enjoyed her summers at her camp on Worthley Pond in Peru. She is predeceased by a daughter, Darlene, in 1957; sister, Rita Meeks; and her mother, and father. Norma had five grandchildren, Randy-Joe Poulin, Nicole Quinon, Jake Poulin, Don and Scott Hinckley.

Norma enjoyed her time attending flea markets, craft fairs and garage sales. She was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Church and also spent much of her time watching baseball and college basketball.

Norma had several jobs throughout her life: packing, working at a shoe factory, pizza shop and as a cashier.

She was able to meet and spend time with her eight great-grandchildren, Willow, Dawson, Brock, Sophia, Shaylyn, Kaiden, Kolby and Sawyer. Norma also enjoyed her Sunday evening calls from her son, BO.

She will be greatly missed and forever in our hearts.
