WINTHROP – Colleen Weddle and Rochelle Henry each netted a goal to lift Lisbon to a 2-0 victory over Winthrop in girls’ soccer action Wednesday.

Weddle’s goal came at 2:21 left in the first half after Soleil Mathieu threw the ball in and Winthrop could not clear it. Henry tallied the insurance goal with 25:15 left in the contest after picking up a direct kick and booting it into the net.

Gabrielle Mathieu stopped all five shots she faced for the shutout.

Mt. Abram 6, Hall-Dale 0

SALEM – Liz Kankainen and Sadie White each netted a pair of goals as Mt. Abram rolled past Hall-Dale with a 6-0 win Wednesday afternoon.

Loghan Walker and Kera Ellis each added a goal for the Roadrunners.

Cony 4, Mt. Blue 0

FARMINGTON – Margaret Rende scored a goal in each half as Cony rolled past Mt. Blue to post a 4-0 win Wednesday afternoon in a KVAC soccer matchup.

Rende and Betsy Talley each scored in the first half to record a 2-0 lead at the break. Rende and Heather Pratt would double the score in the second half of the contest to cement Cony’s (6-5-2) win.

Bri Rende turned away four saves on four shots to preserve the shutout win.

Field hockey

Gould 2, Kents Hill 1

KENTS HILL — Shannon Littlefield scored two goals, including the winner in overtime, to lead Gould to a 2-1 victory over Kents Hill in field hockey play Wednesday.

Littlefield’s goals were assisted by Hillary Hugh and Alex MacMillan, while goalkeeper Claire Adams provided seven saves for Gould (2-1-4).

Jessie Schenelle scored the single goal for Kents Hill (3-1), which was kept in the game by goalkeeper Emily Goff’s four-save performance.

Jay 3, Mountain Valley 1

JAY — Emily Cloutier, Kristen Uhuad, and Jenna Lord contributed a goal each as Jay beat Mountain Valley 3-1 in an MVC field hockey matchup Wednesday.

Kaley Demillo was responsible for the netminding duties for the Tigers (8-6), delivering a four-save performance to help secure the victory.

Christina Watts had an impressive day in the net for the Falcons (2-12), turning away 30 of 34 shots on goal.

Livermore Falls 5, Dirigo 0

DIXFIELD — Taryn Flagg provided three goals which led Livermore Falls to a 5-0 victory over Dirigo in MVC field hockey play Wednesday.

Sam Whiting was perfect in the net for the Andies (6-8) as she notched 22 saves on exactly 22 shots on goal. Valen Richard helped spark the Livermore offense with a goal and two assists.

Dani Thompkins had a busy day in the cage for the Cougars (2-12), recording 38 saves on 42 shots.

Boys’ soccer

Waynflete 6, Poland 1

POLAND – Tristan Corrizeau tallied three goals as Waynflete posted a 6-1 victory over Poland in a WMC boys’ soccer matchup Wednesday.

Ned Oppenheim chipped in with a pair of goals, while Luke Cummiskey added a goal for the Flyers. Waynflete dominated throughout the game, outshooting Poland 45-7.

The lone Knights goal was scored by Ronan McNulty in the second half.

St. Dom’s 2, G-NG 1

GRAY — Ryan Geerin and Andrew Gilbert delivered the tying and winning goals for St. Dom’s as the Saints defeated Gray-New Gloucester 2-1 in boys’ soccer action Wednesday.

The Saints (4-8-1) were led defensively by a five-save performance by goalkeeper Ryan Gilbert.

John Labozzo netted the lone goal of the game for the Patriots (2-10) while goalie Josh Levasseur had eight saves in the losing effort.
