WHEELOCK, Mass. – Erin Campbell beat the clock with a goal with 10 seconds left before the half to lift the University of Maine at Farmington to a 3-0 shutout victory over Wheelock in women’s soccer action Sunday.
Mari Kimball and Angie Kendall scored a goal apiece in the second half to provide cushion for the Beavers (6-4-2) down the stretch.
Goalie Kerry Kowalcyzk had the shutout for the Beavers, while Meghan Casey had 19 saves for Wheelock (1-7-0) in the loss.
Field hockey
Williams 4, Colby 1
WATERVILLE – Katie Fulton scored the eventual game-winner on an assist, the second of the game from Clare Whipple to send Williams to a 4-1 win over Colby in NESCAC field hockey action Sunday.
Jennifer Reilly evened up the contest at 1-1 for the White Mules (4-5) in the 14th minute of play.
The Ephs (8-1) took a 2-1 margin at the half and never looked back as Tara Boyd and Cathleen Clark notched scores in the second half for Williams in the win.
Maine 4, Holy Cross 1
WORCESTER, Mass. – Kasey Spencer scored the eventual game-winner with 20 seconds remaining in the half and a safety in the final minutes of the game to help lift the University of Maine to a 4-1 win over Holy Cross in field hockey action Sunday.
The Black Bears (10-4-0) dominated the offense in the first half and took a 2-0 lead into intermission. Holy Cross (7-5-0) turned the momentum around in the second half with a 7-2 margin in shots, but managed only one goal to Maine pair in the loss.
Holy Cross goalie Sony Kuhn had five saves on nine shots, while Jamie Morin turned back seven for Maine in the win.
