JAY – Ryan DiPompo fired a no-hitter and struck out 12 as Jay handed Carrabec a 6-1 setback in MVC baseball Thursday.

Shawn Jacques drilled an RBI single and later scored on an error in the bottom of the fifth inning to break open a 1-1 deadlock for the Tigers (10-4).

Mtn. Valley 15, Winthrop 3

WINTHROP – With the game tied at 3-3, Mountain Valley exploded for seven runs in the top of the fourth inning and scored the game’s final 12 runs to hand Winthrop a 15-3 defeat in MVC baseball Thursday.

The Falcons were led by Shawn Marr and Aaron McPhee with three hits each. Marcus Palmer picked up the win with a complete game, striking out five.

The Ramblers were led by Tavis Hassenfus’ triple and two RBIs. Matt Lunt also added a pair of hits.

Softball
Jay 3, Carrabec 1

JAY – Bree Loon went the distance, striking out 12 to lead Jay to a 3-1 win over Carrabec.

Kaylie DeMillo had a hit and Jana Fettehoff had RBI singles for Jay’s only hits (11-1).

Erica Taylor and Kristina Earle each had two hits for the Cobras (3-9).

Winthrop 12, Mtn. Valley 7

WINTHROP – Nic Emery had three hits, including a single that snapped a 7-7 tie to send Winthrop to a 12-7 win over Mountain Valley.

Emery’s hit in the fourth inning drove in Katie Pushard with the go-ahead run. Heather Babb, Kelley Lascko and Hannah Salois each drilled a pair of hits for the Ramblers (5-8) in the win, with Salois driving in four runs.

Emery picked up the win in relief of Pushard.

Abby Mills suffered the loss. Kaly Bernard had a triple.
