LEWISTON — Mary Elizabeth Simpson, of Lewiston, age 50, was born in Lewiston, daughter of Thomas and Constance Simpson, lived a very full, meaningful and happy life, passing peacefully on Friday, Dec. 8, with family by her side.

Beth attended the Madison Street School and continued with support under the Pathways program and participating in Special Olympics year after year. Settling into an independent adult life she resided in Lewiston with the support of the John Murphy Group Homes over the past 18 years. She also attended the Social Learning Center in Lewiston developing life and social skills enriching her independence.

Art class, bowling, endless Karaoke performances, dancing and crafting were some of Beth’s most enjoyable activities shared with a wealth of friends. Beth also attended Pine Tree Camp for 30 years. Witty, charming and outgoing, Beth was a special gift from God, a gift with a message. Weddings, social events, holidays, countless dinners out and endless trips to Florida on family vacations, Beth missed out on little.

Beth is predeceased by her mother and father, Tom and Connie Simpson of Auburn, and is survived by four siblings, Tim and his wife, Karen of Auburn, Mark and his wife, Sharon of Auburn, John of Texas, and Jim and his partner, Marcela of Arizona; along with nieces, Lindsey and Sarah; nephews, Ryan, Brandon, Eric and Chris.

Beth’s family would like to recognize the entire staff at JFM, SLC and all those at Pine Tree Camp, present and past. Each provided unconditional support for a life of meaningful fulfillment and happiness for which her family will be ever thankful.
