LEWISTON – The Bates College field hockey team was well represented in the National Field Hockey Coaches Association’s All-Academic awards, as four players were named to the 2003 NFHCA Division III National Academic Squad, and the team was one of 60 to post a GPA of 3.0 or better.
Lori Jessup, Megan Petry, Annie Schauer and Valerie Wicks all earned spots on the National Academic Squad for the Bobcats. Student-athletes selected to the National Academic Squad have achieved a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.30 through the fall semester of the 2003-04 academic year.
Silva to play in NEISL All-Star game
LEWISTON – Bates College senior Anthony Silva has been selected to play in the New England Intercollegiate Soccer League Game, to be held in late April. Players from NCAA Division I, II and III institutions will play in the game, which will be held at Babson College in Babson Park, Mass.
Silva was a Second-Team All-NESCAC selection at midfield for Bates. He started every game at midfield for Bates and was the team’s third leading scorer with four goals and three assists for 11 points. He scored two goals, including the game-winner, in a 5-1 win over the University of New England. Silva finished his career with eight goals and five assists for 21 points.
