WEST DEPTFORD, N.J. – Jacob Marcum and Justin Ciszewski each had two hits and two RBIs to power Auburn Suburban to an 8-2 triumph over South Windsor, Conn., in the losers’ bracket of the 2004 Senior Little League Baseball Eastern Regional on Sunday afternoon.

Auburn Suburban jumped out to a 5-0 lead with a run in the third and four more in the fourth. The big hit in the fourth came on a two-run single by Marcum.

South Windsor threatened in the fifth, but Kyle Giguere came on in relief to lessen the damage. With the bases loaded, no outs and a run already in, Giguere struck out the first two batters he faced. Auburn Suburban appeared to be out of the inning when the next batter hit a ground ball. However, the ball was booted, allowing James McGowan to score to make it a 5-2 game. Giguere escaped further damage when a South Windsor runner was called out for interference with an infield ground ball.

Auburn Suburban came right back and scored a pair of runs in the bottom of the fifth on an RBI double by Justin Ciszewski and a successful suicide squeeze by Derek Doucette. The Maine champs tacked on another run for insurance in the sixth.

Marcum was also the pitching star, firing six innings of one-hit baseball. He allowed two runs, one of which was earned, and walked three while striking out seven.

Auburn Suburban faces Billerica American, Mass., in an elimination game Monday at 10 a.m.
