POLAND – Mike Carpenter lined a single to right field in the sixth inning to send Poland to a 4-3 win over Locke Mills in legion baseball action Monday evening.

Tim Dubois hit a 3-run home run in the fifth inning to erase a Poland 3-0 deficit from the third inning.

Jeremy Callahan led off the sixth frame with a walk and advanced to second on a single by Dubois.

Following Nick Berube’s fly out, Carpenter singled for what proved to be the game-winner.

Locke Mills was out hit 9-5, but had an errorless day in the field. Poland committed a pair of errors in the win.

With the game, the regular season ends for both teams.

Gayton 9, Midcoast 5

BATH – Ryan Turgeon rocketed a three-run home run in the fourth inning and came on in relief to notch the pitching victory as Gayton sailed to a 9-5 win over Midcoast in legion baseball action Monday.

Midcoast jumped out to an early lead with a 2-0 margin at the end of the first. However, Gayton responded with three runs in the third and fourth innings to catapult to a 6-2 lead.

Midcoast produced a pair of runs in the bottom of the fourth to close the gap to within two, where it remained until Gayton surged ahead with another three runs in the seventh inning.

Mike Leclair, who had started the game on the mound, helped pad the lead with a run-scoring single in the final frame.

The regular season is over for both teams.

Cole Farms 4, Andy Valley 3

YARMOUTH – Louie Bernardini pitched a strong game, giving up only two hits and striking out six batters as Cole Farms slipped past Andy Valley 4-3 in Legion ball Monday.

Bernardini hit a two-run double for the Cole Farm win as well.

Aaron Tallon smacked an RBI triple, while Jordan Yanni chipped in with an RBI single for the victory.

All three of Andy Valley’s runs were unearned.
