LEWISTON-Gayton Post’s Luke Potter singled to tie the game then went on to score the winning run on a wild throw Tuesday evening, pushing Post 31 to a 6-2 win over Poland in the Zone 3 American Legion baseball opener for both teams.
Gayton cracked six singles in the sixth inning, two by Ben Mendelson, and scored five runs to break open the game.
Dustin Longchamps picked up the pitching win for Gayton, while Ryan O’Hara closed the door in relief.
Bessey Motors 7, Andy Valley 5
TURNER-Bessey Motors’ Garrett Olson belted a three-run home run in the second inning to propel the Oxford Hills-area squad to a 7-5 Zone 3 victory over Andy Valley.
Andy Valley’s Josh Armandi belted a double, while Jamie Brewer ripped a triple.
Mid-Coast 4, Cole Farms 3
BATH- Pierce Wigman’s two-run single tied the game, and Wigman also scored the winning run as Mid-Coast downed Cole Farms 4-3 in a Zone 3 contest.
Anthony Ames drove in two runs in the first inning for Mid-Coast. Jordan Yanni doubled with one out to push home two runs for Cole Farms.
New Auburn 7, Locke Mills 3
AUBURN- New Auburn’s Chris LeClair smashed a home run in the fifth inning to led NAL to a 7-3 win over Locke Mills Tuesday.
LeClair went 2-for-3, driving in three runs. Jay Verrill went 3-for-4 for New Auburn with two doubles and two runs scored.
