SOUTH PARIS – Tia Pratt dribbled the ball in from 25-yards out, danced around three players and chipped the ball over the goalie in overtime to lift Oxford Hills to a 2-1 victory over Gardiner in KVAC field hockey action Tuesday.
Krystal Lawrence converted a pass from Haley Chadbourne for the Tigers (1-1), and Kaitlin Crockett scored an unassisted tally for the Vikings (1-1) to finish the first half in a 1-1 tie.
Goalie Katie Beaulieu made eight saves for Gardiner, while Aleksys Pike turned back nine for Oxford Hills to notch the victory.
Leavitt 2, Camden Hills 1
CAMDEN – Sarah Quimby scored a goal and an assist to lead Leavitt to a 2-1 triumph over Camden Hill in field hockey action Tuesday.
The Hornets (2-0) drew first blood when Courtney Erskine converted a feed from Quimby at 23:24 in the opening half. But, the Windjammers (1-1) responded with a goal from Laura Schelble 10 minutes later to even things up at the break.
Leavitt played tough in the second half, setting the stage for Quimby to score on a pass from Krissy Ellis to notch the game-winner.
Goalie Kristen Capen made seven saves for Leavitt, while Dale Hinsper turned back five for Camden Hills in the losing effort.
Fryeburg 4, Gray-NG 0
GRAY – Heidi Richards led a group of four players to register goals as Fryburg rolled past Gray-New Gloucester 4-0 in a WMC field hockey matchup Tuesday.
Jacqui Bell, McKenzie Brown and Kasey Ballard also tallied for the Raiders (1-0-1), while Kendyl Sullivan didn’t have the chance to make a save while earning the shutout.
Nicole Ganem turned away nine shots in net for the Patriots (0-2).
Messalonskee 12, Lewiston 0
LEWISTON – Emily Mattos netted three goals to lead Messalonskee to a 12-0 shutout over Lewiston in a KVAC matchup Tuesday.
Amanda Barker and Ashley Busque chipped in for the Eagles (2-0) with two goals apiece, while single tallies by Melissa Oliver, Lyndsey Begley, Michelle Nadeau and Miranda Nadeau completed the scoring. Beth Ridley needed just one save to preserve the shutout.
Stephanye Doucette and Samantha Thibault split time in net for the Blue Devils (0-2), combining for eight saves.
St. Dom’s 4, NYA 1
NORTH YARMOUTH – Mary Lewis netted a pair of goals to pace St. Dom’s to a 4-1 victory over North Yarmouth Academy in WMC field hockey action Tuesday.
Amanda Mayette and Hillary Gove also tallied for the Saints (2-0). Sophomore keeper Austyn Carolin made eight saves to notch the win.
The Panthers’ (1-1) lone goal was scored by Siobhan Anderson with an assist from Ingra Knowles. Sarah Holden handled netkeeping duties for NYA, turning aside 17 shots.
Soccer
Edward Little 3, Leavitt 0
AUBURN – Kirsten Prue netted two goals to lead Edward Little to a 3-0 victory over Leavitt in a KVAC girl’s soccer matchup Tuesday.
Alice Read also tallied for the Red Eddies (1-1). Goalie Brittney French needed only four saves to preserve the shutout.
Kat Roth handled netkeeping duties for the Hornets (1-1), turning away 10 shots.
Mt. Ararat 3, Oxford Hills 0
SOUTH PARIS – Kelsey Karkos scored the first of three Mt. Ararat goals as the Eagles blanked Oxford Hills 3-0.
After a scoreless first half, the Eagles (2-0) cashed in on several opportunities. Gabby Bryant and Gillian Lane contributed goals in the winning effort.
Goalie Samantha Rivers made nine saves for the Vikings (0-2), while Sarah Ward earned the victory with seven saves for Mt. Ararat.
Lewiston 5, Gardiner 0
LEWISTON – Kelsey Rodrigue netted a pair of goals Tuesday as Lewiston rolled over Gardiner 5-0 in KVAC girls’ soccer matchup.
Sasha Roy, Erica Morin and Julia Bergeron also tallied for the Blue Devils (1-1). Katie Cobb made seven saves in net to preserve the shutout.
Kayla Marks handled netkeeping duties for the Tigers (0-2), turning aside 18 shots fired in her direction.
