BIDDEFORD – Freshman Taryn Flagg of Livermore Falls scored a pair of second-half goals to propel the University of New England (1-0) to a come-from-behind 2-1 victory over Southern Maine in field hockey.
Flagg notched her first career goal to tie the game with 11 minutes to play in the second, redirecting a crossing pass from Megan Severy. Flagg went on to score the game-winning goal with 2:28 left on the clock, stealing a failed clearing attempt by the Huskies defense and pushing the ball past USM goalkeeper Allie Hill.

GORHAM – Leah Drew stopped three shots for the shutout in the Husson cage as the Eagles tripped up Southern Maine 2-0.
Katie Nickerson knocked in the first goal of the game in the 12th after a corner kick by Elissa Gordon, and Husson (1-0-0) got an insurance tally when the Huskies scored an own goal late in the game.
Mindy Morneault made four saves for USM (0-2).
