ARLINGTON, Texas – John Danks showed the Texas fans what they’re missing.
Danks, the White Sox left-hander who was once the Rangers’ top pitching prospect, struck out eight with no walks in 7 2-3 innings and AL Central-leading Chicago beat Texas.
Royals 5, Mariners 4
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – David DeJesus hit a two-run homer with two out in the ninth and Kansas City rallied to beat Seattle for the Royals’ third straight win.
Mariners closer Brandon Morrow (1-2) retired the first two batters in the ninth before walking pinch-hitter Billy Butler on four pitches. DeJesus hit Morrow’s next pitch just over the right-field fence and into the Royals’ bullpen.
Twins 6, Tigers 5
DETROIT – Joe Mauer hit a home run and Brendan Harris homered and had a season-high four RBIs to help Minnesota beat Detroit for the third straight day.
Angels 4, Athletics 1
OAKLAND, Calif. – Ervin Santana allowed five hits over seven scoreless innings, Howie Kendrick had two hits and an RBI, and the Angels beat the Athletics.
Santana (11-3), a first-time All-Star, improved to 9-1 against the A’s, including wins in his last five decisions against them. He’s 35-32 against the rest of baseball.
