NEW YORK – Mike Mussina survived five shaky innings before turning it over to Joba Chamberlain and New York’s reshaped bullpen, and the Yankees pummeled the Seattle Mariners 12-6 on Saturday for their first four-game winning streak of the season.

Jason Giambi hit a three-run homer and Bobby Abreu added a two-run shot for the Yankees, who have outscored Baltimore and Seattle 35-9 during the winning streak. Abreu finished with four RBIs, and Robinson Cano went 4-for-4 and matched a career-high with three doubles as the Yankees improved to 5-0 against the Mariners this season.

Seattle has been outscored 44-12 by the Yankees and has lost 18 of 23 overall, dropping to a league-worst 18-32.

Carlos Silva (3-4), pitching on short rest, gave up seven runs – five earned – and 11 hits in six innings.

Blue Jays 6, Royals 0

TORONTO (AP) – Jesse Litsch pitched a seven-hitter for his first career complete game, Brad Wilkerson hit a grand slam and the Blue Jays extended the Royals’ losing streak to six.

Litsch (6-1) struck out three, walked one and won his fourth straight decision. Making his 29th career start, he extended his streak of innings without a walk to 38 2-3, three more than Jimmy Key’s previous Toronto record in 1990. The streak ended with a base on balls to Mark Teahen with two outs in the ninth.

Kansas City was shut out for the sixth time this season – tied for second in the major leagues behind Detroit’s seven. The Royals have lost seven of eight, including a no-hitter by Boston’s Jon Lester on Monday.

Rookie Luke Hochevar (3-4), beaten by Lester in the no-hitter, lost back-to-back starts for the first time this season.

Angels 2, White Sox 0

CHICAGO (AP) – Jered Weaver pitched three-hit ball over eight innings and Vladimir Guerrero hit a go-ahead home run in the sixth to lead the Angels over the White Sox.

Weaver (4-5) struck out six, walked two and improved to 3-0 with an 0.34 ERA in four career starts against the White Sox. Francisco Rodriguez pitched a perfect ninth for his major league-leading 21st save in 22 changes.

Los Angeles has won five of six, while the White Sox lost their second straight following a season-best, eight-game winning streak.

John Danks (3-4) allowed two runs and five hits in five-plus innings.

Rays 11, Orioles 4

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) – Evan Longoria homered twice and had six RBIs to lead the Rays past the Orioles.

It was Longoria’s first career multihomer game. The rookie hit a three-run shot during a four-run first, and had a two-run drive in a five-run second. He also hit a fourth-inning sacrifice fly.

Carlos Pena added three RBIs for the Rays, who are 21-9 since April 22, and improved to a franchise best nine games over .500 at 29-20. Tampa Bay has won 14 of its last 15 games at home.

Edwin Jackson (3-3) allowed three runs and four hits in five innings.

Pena had an RBI double and Longoria hit a three-run homer off Steve Trachsel (2-5) to put the Rays ahead 4-0 in the first.

Indians 5, Rangers 2

CLEVELAND (AP) – Cliff Lee bounced back from his only poor outing this season and Ben Francisco hit a three-run homer to help Cleveland snap its seven-game losing streak with a win over Texas.

Lee (7-1), was not as sharp as he when he compiled an 0.67 ERA and 6-0 record in his first seven starts.

Francisco, robbed of a three-run homer by an umpire’s blown call Friday night, left nothing to chance by hitting a 2-2 pitch from Scott Feldman (1-2) well over the wall in left for his second homer to put Cleveland ahead 4-2 in the third inning. On Friday, he hit a ball that TV replays showed cleared the wall, but the umpires ruled it in play and Francisco got only an RBI double.

Tigers 19, Twins 3

DETROIT (AP) – Magglio Ordonez homered twice and drove in six runs to help the Tigers rout the Twins.

Ordonez hit a two-run homer to left in the first inning, then doubled in two runners during a four-run third that gave the Tigers the lead for good. He added a two-run shot in a six-run fourth.

The six RBIs matched his career high.

Nate Robertson (2-5) struck out four in 6 1-3 innings and won for the first time since May 1 while Minnesota’s Boof Bonser (2-6) lasted just three batters into the third.

Detroit’s Gary Sheffield had three RBIs and Placido Polanco was 4-for-5 and scored four runs.

Minnesota’s Alexi Casilla had a two-run homer in the third.
