LEWISTON — The Holy Cross Knights of Columbus, Council 12652, will host an
evening of comedy with Mainely Improv, an improvisational comedy troupe. The show will be held on Saturday, Nov. 14, at the Knights of Columbus
Hall, 150 East Ave.
Doors will open for a social at 6 p.m. with the show starting at 7 p.m. Cost is $18 each
person which includes entertainment and a dessert bar at intermission. There
will be a cash bar available.
Much in the style of TV’s “Whose Line Is It, Anyway,” Mainely Improv performs comedy without a script, relying entirely on the audience for suggestions of scenes and characters.
“We are never quite sure what will happen when we do an improv show,” said Dan Marois, who with his wife, Denise, produce Mainely Improv. “Anything can happen when the audience throws out ideas to perform and we end up doing what we call, ‘on the spot’ comedy.”
Marois said that the audience loves participating in the action and sometimes a member or two ends up as part of the onstage action.
During the performance, the troupe asks audience members for suggestions for scenes, characters and situations. From that information, the troupe creates comic bits where the audience sees their suggestions come to life.
Performers for the Nov. 14 show will include Dan Marois of Poland Spring, Chuck Waterman of Gorham, Julie Poulin of Monmouth, Brian Files of Gardiner and Katie Marois of Poland Spring.
Tickets are $18 each and can be purchased by calling Larry Thibault at 783-6860 or Ray Masse at 784-9000.
