AUBURN — A city woman was transported to an area hospital after being hit by a car over the weekend.

Rebecca Varney, 17, was crossing Minot Avenue shortly before 6:30 p.m. on Saturday in the rain, police wrote in a report. No information about her condition was available at local hospitals on Monday.

Varney wasn’t in a marked or designated crosswalk when she was struck by a car driven by Marie A. Constantine, 37, of Lisbon, police said.

Constantine and a passenger were traveling east in the right-hand lane in Constantine’s 2003 Saab when the accident occurred, according to police.

Varney was walking across the road in a southerly direction, police said. She suffered abrasions and bruises to the head, according to an accident report. Constantine and her passenger reported no injuries.
