WILTON — Wilton police officers searched a home at 5 Applegate Lane on Wednesday and discovered an indoor marijuana grow operation, said Lt. E. Page Reynolds. The street value of the drugs seized is estimated to be about $35,000.
Eric Urdsick, 29, the owner of the home, was arrested on a charge of violation of conditions of release, Reynolds said. Other charges are pending as police continue their investigation.
Acting on an anonymous tip about the sale of drugs from the home, Detective Rick Billian obtained a search warrant that led police to the home at about 3 p.m. Wednesday.
The indoor grow area found in the basement of the home was pretty sophisticated for this area, Reynolds said. A room built inside the basement had a special ventilation system for the plants.
Along with the growing plants, two large bags of processed marijuana were seized along with scales and other items considered evidence of the sale of the drug.
A pipe and other items led police to believe Urdsick was using as well as selling the marijuana, Reynolds said. Urdsick was apparently living at the home alone but other accomplices may be involved in some part of the operation, he added.
