Phyllis L. Brackley
1921 – 2009
FARMINGTON — Phyllis Ladd Brackley, 87, of Strong died Saturday, Oct. 31, at Sandy River Health Care and Rehab Center.
She was born Dec. 20, 1921, in Strong, the daughter of Carroll W. and Gladys (Johnson) Ladd. She was educated in the schools of Strong and a graduate of Strong High School.
She married Lewis Brackley Nov. 12, 1938 in Strong. He died Feb. 17, 2001. She worked for Strong Wood Turning, Livermore Falls Shoe and later worked for Forster Manufacturing Co. until she retired in 1970.
She was a member of Aurora Grange 202, state and national Grange and Junior Department in state Grange for 12 years, she was also a member of Phythan Sisters of Cleopatra Temple 90 of Strong, member of the Strong Senior Citizens, the Strong Historical Society and member of the Strong United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. She enjoyed decorating cakes, crocheting, sewing and knitting, she was also a professional fly tier for many years.
She is survived by her daughter, Norma and her husband, Etney Campbell, of Phillips; three grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a son, Richard Allen; a daughter, Linda Lou; and two brothers, Roger Ladd and Virgil Ladd.
