PARIS — The 33rd annual Oxford Hills Chamber of Commerce Christmas Parade will take place on Saturday, Nov. 28.

This year’s theme, “A Musical Christmas,” offers those entering floats an opportunity to show off their imagination and skills as they compete for prizes in the categories of large business (25 or more employees), small business and nonprofit/civic organization.

New categories for judging have been added including four-legged friends, which includes working animals, pleasure animals, pets and farm groups; antique and classic vehicles and trucks; antique tractors; and public safety vehicles.

When the parade steps off at 2 p.m., the lead unit will be the Marine Corps color guard from Alpha Company, 1st Battalion, 25th Marines, out of Topsham. Other units that are part of the parade include the Chamber’s Community Service award winner Dr. Mark Eastman, Wreaths across America, the Patriot Riders, local marching bands, scout troops, 13 confirmed beauty queen winners and equestrian units.

Santa Claus will appear on the last float and will take requests from children after the parade at the Norway Fire Station. Other events are planned within the community, both during and after the parade. The parade will also be filmed for later broadcast.

For more information or to register a float, call the Oxford Hills Chamber of Commerce at 743-2281. Parade rules, regulations and an application can be downloaded at www.OxfordHillsMaine.com.
