Christine B. Davis
1913 – 2009

AUBURN — Christine B. Davis, 96, of 440 Minot Ave., died on Wednesday, Nov. 11, at Clover Manor, where she resided for over 10 years.

She was born in Rangeley on May 20, 1913, the daughter of Lynwood and Marion Oakes Ellis. She graduated from Rangeley High School with the Class of 1931 and attended Nasson College in Sanford. She was married to W. Owen Davis, who died May 26, 1983.

She was a member of Danville Grange, Eastern Star and was a 4-H Leader. She served as secretary and treasurer of Pine Street Cemetery and also past president and secretary of Danville Mutual Fire Insurance Co.

She enjoyed gardening, traveling, crocheting, reading, word puzzles and playing cards. Family gatherings were special to her, as well as cooking for family and events.

She will be remembered for her hard work raising three sons while working with her husband in developing Davis Farms on the Old Danville Road in Auburn. She was always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need.

She is survived by her three sons and daughters-in-law, Wesley and Marilyn Davis of Plastow, N.H., Joseph and Nancy Davis of South Paris,and John and Mindy Davis of Poland; grandchildren,Todd Davis of Rhode Island,
Sherri and James MacDougall, Cindy and Todd Poulin, Ron Davis, Laura and Pete Koch, Holly Davis, and Brandon, Wesley and Kaleb Davis;
16 great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; two sisters, Estella Szymcik of Massachusetts, and Greta and Rodney Pratt of Maine; and two brothers, Paul and Lillian Ellis, and Harry and Jean Ellis, all of Maine.


The family extends a special thanks to Unit 1 at Clover Manor Nursing Home.
