LEWISTON — Vivianne “Vicky” M. Bernier, 85, of Canton, passed away from a long illness Saturday, Feb. 3, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Lewiston, with her beloved family by her side.
She was born at home in Auburn on May 12, 1932, a daughter of the late Henry and Mary Anne (Pomerleau) Berube. She was educated at St. Louis school. She married George A. Bernier in 1954 and they had two sets of twins.
She worked in the shoe shops most of her life and went to work for Bolster Heights until she became ill and was forced to retire in 1994.
Vivianne was socially active. She was a member of the Ladies of Saint Anne as well as the American Legion Post 153 Auxiliary. She was also a den mother in the Cub Scouts.
Vivianne enjoyed being with her family and loved all of them unconditionally. She enjoyed playing cards and the penny slots.
Spending time at the family camp on Canton Lake was also very special to her. Vivianne loved her children dearly and was loved by all she touched. She was a great woman with a big heart and will be missed deeply by many.
She is survived by her son, Paul G. Bernier, of Hartford; her two daughters, Pauline C. Small and her partner, John Grenier, of Canton, and Jane B. Cadman, also of Canton. She also leaves behind her seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her son, John B. Bernier; her granddaughter, Kristy L. Small; and her brothers and sisters.
