AUBURN — Randall S. “Randy” Guilford, 57, of Norway, passed away Friday, Feb. 2. He was born Aug. 28, 1960, to Rosa and Cecil (Chuck) Guilford, and was the youngest of four children.

He was a source of great joy to his older siblings when he was small. Randy graduated from Oxford Hills High School and went off on an adventure to Florida and on to Houston, Texas, where he worked for a time at Lozano’s Custom Autobody. He loved his Harley-Davidsons, having owned 14 over the years, with his favorite being his low rider. He had a similar passion for snowmobiles and muscle cars. Randy went to many Grateful Dead concerts in years past, and was looking forward to the new NASCAR season …

He enjoyed his trips to California to visit his buddy, Bryan, and looked at getting bumped from a connecting flight as an adventure in an unfamiliar city with complimentary hotel and bar vouchers. Reading a good book was also a pastime of his and he always had one in process. Randy worked for many years at Maine Machine and later at Arundel Machine Tool in Oxford. His final job was maintenance supervisor for the Progress Center in Norway.

Cancer took over his life in 2017. Through the year of radiation, chemotherapy and surgery, Randy found great empathy for the other patients he met, especially the children. Randy had some great friends who stayed beside him and his family throughout this ordeal. Bryan, Jay, Mike, Scott, Steve, Jen and others showed what true friendship is about. His family owes them a gratitude for the support they provided. Randy will be sorely missed by his sisters, Doreen Merrick and Eileen Grizzle; his brother, Larry Guilford; and his wife, Mary Ann.
