MANCHESTER, N.H. (AP) – Pascal Pelletier scored two goals and David Krejci added three assists to lead the Providence Bruins to a 6-3 victory over the Manchester Monarchs Tuesday night, giving Providence a 1-0 lead in the best-of-seven Atlantic Division Finals.

T.J. Kemp tied the game at 3-3 for the Monarchs with a power-play goal, but Brian White gave Providence the lead again at 4-3 just 15 seconds later. Nate DiCasmirro pushed the lead to 5-3 for Providence and knocked Jason LaBarbera out of the game. Labarbera made 23 saves.

Sean Bentivoglio added an empty-net power-play goal to finish off the scoring at 6-3 Providence. Hannu Toivonen made 36 saves for the win and Barry Brust stopped one shot in the Manchester net in relief of LaBarbera. Peter Harrold’s wrist shot from the blue line got the Monarchs on the board and pulled them to within a goal at 2-1. The Bruins re-established a two-goal cushion just 2:07 later as Pelletier notched his second of the night.

Patrick O’Sullivan pulled the Monarchs back within a goal at 3-2 with 1:32 remaining in second period.

Pelletier pinched in along the boards and beat LaBarbera to give Providence a 1-0 lead. T.J. Trevelyan picked the puck out of the corner and snapped a wrist shot over the shoulder of LaBarbera to extend the Bruins lead to 2-0.
