Brown Bag Gardening Chat

WATERFORD — The Waterford Library will hold a brown bag lunch and open discussion featuring the latest additions to the Sheena Frazier Gardening Book Collection from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 17.

Since Frazier’s untimely death, a legacy endowment has grown into a wide variety of gardening related titles. All are welcome to join in a topical discussion and lend insights, comments, questions, suggestions or expertise on gardening.

Participants should bring a brown bag lunch. Drinks and dessert will be provided.

Blanket making for Project Linus

JAY — Make a Blanket Day will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 17, at the Bean’s Corner Baptist Church. February is National Blanket Day for Project Linus.

Sandwiches will be available for lunch. Those attending should bring sewing machines, supplies and fabric. Some will be available. There will be door prizes and raffles.

Sled-in, winter festival planned

JAY — The sixth annual Spruce Mountain Sled-In and Winter Family Festival will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 17, at French Falls Recreation Area, French Falls Lane, across from Spruce Mountain High School.

Those attending may ride in on snowmobiles via Whistlestop Trail or come by car and park in the rec area.

There will be a bonfire, sleigh rides, snowshoe races with prizes, sliding on a snow “mountain,” food sold by local charities and nonprofits, a snow sculpture/snowman contest with prizes and raffles. Those attending should bring sliding sleds and snowshoes; there will be a limited number available.

The event is sponsored by the Jay Recreation Committee, with help from all three local snowmobile clubs, Andy Valley Riders, Jug Hill Riders and Livermore Trailblazers.

Jay Amvets to have Saturday music

JAY — The Jay Amvets Post will have the music of Rif-Raf from 7 to 11 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 17.

Mexico Trail Blazers to meet

MEXICO — The Mexico Trail Blazers will hold a monthly meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 17, downstairs at the Mexico Town Hall.

All are welcome to attend. Check the group out on Facebook or attend the meeting to learn more. The club seeks membership, and it may be made by attending a meeting or by calling Nick Brown at 207-364-8665.
