BOSTON (AP) – Pete MacArthur’s third-period score led Boston University to a 3-2 victory over Boston College Monday night in the 54th Beanpot Championship.
MacArthur took a rebound and shot it in from the front of the net at 12:43 for BU’s second straight win, its 27th overall, in Boston’s four-team college hockey championship.
The first period of the title game began as a defensive standoff, the Boston College’s Peter Harrold scored on a power play with 2:28 left.
BU ((18-8-2, 16-6-1 Hockey East) tied the score in the second when Bryan Ewing scored with an assist from MacArthur at 4:07, then took the lead five minutes later when Jason Lawrence scored on a pass from Brandon Yip.
Corey Schneider had 33 saves for Boston College, and John Curry had 18 for BU.
In the Beanpot consolation game, Harvard shut out Northeastern 5-0. Jon Pelle scored two goals for the Crimson, and goalie Justin Tobe added 24 saves.
