SACO — Surrounded by her family, Simonne C. Landry died peacefully at The Landing at Saco Bay in Saco on Sunday, Feb. 18.

She was born in Lewiston on Nov. 22, 1924, the daughter of Louis and Elina Cote, attended Ste. Croix School and graduated from Lewiston High School, Class of 1942.

She worked at the tax collector’s office at Lewiston City Hall and later worked for many years as a teller and head cashier at Ste. Croix Parish Federal Credit Union until her retirement in 1986.

Simonne was an accomplished seamstress who sewed beautiful clothes for herself and her five daughters. After her retirement, she began taking art lessons and became an avid painter. She volunteered for many years at Ste. Croix Parish and enjoyed playing cards and Bunco with her friends.

Simonne and her husband, Lionel, enjoyed traveling around the country to visit their daughters, and also traveled with friends.

Simonne was predeceased by her loving husband of 68 years, Lionel Landry. Simonne is survived by her five daughters, Pauline Beare and husband, John, of California, Suzanne Janelle and husband, Andre, of Saco, Louise Landry and husband, Bob Silverstein, of New York, Claire Leal and husband, David, of Kennebunk, Elaine Rosen and husband, Mark, of Massachusetts; 13 grandchildren, Renée (Beare) Fitzpatrick and husband, Thomas, Joseph Beare, Danielle (Beare) Thompson and husband, Ryan, Elizabeth (Beare) Tucker and husband, Ryan, Nicole Janelle and husband, Jake Donaldson, Celine DinhJanelle and husband, Anthony, Ethan and Lillie Silverstein, Benjamin, Samuel and Zachary Leal, and Evan and Olivia Rosen; and 10 great-grandchildren. Her sister, Muguette Cote; brother-in-law, Fernand Landry; and many nieces and nephews also survive her.
