PORTLAND (AP) – Chris Bourque scored his first professional goal at 2:04 of overtime to lift the Portland Pirates past the Springfield Falcons 2-1 on Friday in the American Hockey League.

Trent Whitfield scored a goal and added an assist for Portland.

Bourque, the 19-year-old son of Hall of Fame defenseman Ray Bourque, was playing in his fourth professional game.

He recently signed an amateur tryout agreement after playing for Boston University.

The contest was also the Pirates’ final home game of the 2004-2005 season.

The Falcons (23-46-6-3) grabbed a 1-0 lead in the first period when Marc Busenburg scored at 13:56.

The Pirates (33-33-6-6) tied it early in the second period when Whitfield netted his 16th goal of the season at 2:31.

After a scoreless third period, Bourque scored the game-winner from the right side a few feet outside the crease.

Portland goalie Kirk Daubenspeck stopped 18 shots to earn the win, while Springfield’s Jean-Marc Pelletier tallied 26 saves.
