AUBURN — Gov. Paul LePage has appointed Bryan Dench, chairman of the board of directors for Skelton Taintor & Abbott, to the state Board of Arbitration and Conciliation Services as an employer representative.
The Board of Arbitration is part of the Maine Labor Relations Board, which administers and enforces Maine’s state laws that govern collective bargaining for public sector employers and employees. As needed, BAC is called upon to resolve contract negotiation disputes and grievances. Before convening a formal arbitration panel, the representatives try to reach a settlement between parties. Should a resolution not be reached, the matter proceeds to arbitration.
Given his experience and respected position in the legal community, Dench has frequently been asked to serve as a mediator in court cases and legal disputes. He serves on the board of directors of the Labor and Employment Relations Association of Maine.
