PORTLAND (AP) – Hannu Toivonen of Providence stopped 30 shots on goal and Portland’s Maxime Ouellet had 25 saves as the Bruins and Pirates skated to a 1-1 tie Sunday in the American Hockey League.

Both goaltenders performed superbly in net. Ouellet’s best moment came when he stopped Andre Savage’s point-blank scoring bid at 3:48 of the second period. Toivonen’s best effort was stopping Francois Methot’s breakaway attempt at 14:09 of the third period.

Portland scored first when Mike Pudlick put the puck past Toivonen 10:42 into the game. Brendan Walsh tied it at one when he beat Ouellet on the power play at 8:44 of the second.
