EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -Marian Hossa scored two goals and the Ottawa Senators held New Jersey to an embarrassing eight shots in the first two periods in a 4-0 victory.
Bryan Smolinski and Josh Langfeld also scored, and Radek Bonk and Martin Havlat had two assists apiece for the Senators, who have lost only once in their last 14 games (10-1-3).
Patrick Lalime made 26 saves for his third shutout of the season and the 31st of his career.
The win was the Senators’ first in three games this season against the defending Stanley Cup champion Devils.
The first two games between the teams that met in the Eastern Conference final last year were thrilling, with New Jersey winning 1-0 and 2-1.
This one was no contest. The 11,456 were so frustrated with the Devils after Hossa stretched the Senators lead to 3-0 late in the second period that they booed loudly. The crowd was walking out midway through the third period.
Hossa gave the Senators the lead at 8:04 of the first period with his 21st goal of the season. Bonk made a nice pass from the sideboards to Petr Schastlivy, setting up a two-on-one that Hossa finished.
Kings 0, Predators 0
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Nashville’s Chris Mason made 33 saves for his first NHL shutout and Los Angeles’ Roman Cechmanek stopped 29 shots in a 0-0 tie.
It was the second straight tie for both teams. Nashville was coming off a 3-3 tie in Minnesota on Monday night, and Los Angeles tied Columbus 2-2 on Saturday night.
The 0-0 tie was the second for the Predators. The last time it happened was March 21, 2001, at Minnesota.

Lightning backup goalie John Grahame allowed only one goal for the fourth straight game – all during the road winning streak – while facing only 13 shots. Grahame is 6-1-1 on the road this season and 6-1-1 in his career against Pittsburgh.
While Grahame regularly beats the Penguins, the Lightning don’t – it was their first victory in Mellon Arena since Nov. 6, 1999, going 0-5-1-1 in their last seven games there.

Mike Dunham made 18 saves to improve to 8-2-2 against the Islanders.
Rick DiPietro stopped 27 shots but was unable to put in a performance similar to his perfect 27-save effort against the Rangers on Saturday in relief of Garth Snow.
Snow, who allowed three goals on seven shots in the 3-2 loss, didn’t play for the second time in three games after appearing in 15 straight.
Jason Blake gave the Islanders a 1-0 lead. Poti snapped a 1-1 tie 8:59 into the second period, easily deflecting in a pass from Leetch down low.

Phoenix goalie Brian Boucher, whose string of five consecutive shutouts ended with a first-period goal against Atlanta on Sunday, surrendered a pair goals in the first 9:54.
Todd Bertuzzi had two assists, and was the driving force on the Canucks’ first two scores.
Vancouver opened the scoring at 6:42 of the first period when Bertuzzi flipped the puck toward Boucher from the side of the net. Boucher couldn’t control the puck, which bounced off the ice and was batted into the net by Naslund.
Jovanoski made it 2-0 just over three minutes later when he took advantage of Bertuzzi’s screen just in front of the crease to beat Boucher from the high slot.
Naslund earned an assist on Jovanoski’s goal and added his team-leading 24th goal, an empty-netter with 34 seconds remaining, to raise his NHL-leading point total to 52.
Sedin scored 1:34 into the third period, one-timing a backhand pass by Jason King.
Brian Savage scored Phoenix’s lone goal with 15:50 remaining.
Notes: Sean Burke, the Coyotes’ usual starting goalie, remained on the bench for the seventh consecutive game. … Phoenix’s Ladislav Nagy left with an eye injury after he was high-sticked by Sami Salo with 6:32 left in the second period. No penalty was called on the play.
