ESTERO, Fla. (AP) – Mike Walsh’s score off a power play in the second was all Notre Dame needed to push past Maine for a 1-0 victory in Sunday’s Everblades Classic consolation game.

The game is the first time Maine (12-4-1, 6-2-1 Hockey East) was held scoreless all season.

The game remained scoreless until 9:03 in the second when Walsh fired a shot past Frank Doyle, assisted by Cory McLean and Brett Ledba.

Maine had several chances on two power plays, but could not score off the Irish (9-6-2,7-5-2 CCHA).

With 12:50 remaining in the third period Maine was able to kill a five-on-three for 1:34, with Doyle making several saves.

Maine pulled Doyle with 2:11 remaining in the game but were unable to score.

The Black Bears next play Vermont on Jan. 4 at Portland.
