TAMPA, Fla. – Pavel Kubina scored a short-handed breakaway goal 3:28 into overtime, lifting the undefeated Tampa Bay Lightning over the previously unbeaten Atlanta Thrashers 3-2 Tuesday night.

Kubina scored on a backhander for the Lightning, 4-0 for the first time in franchise history.

Late third-period goals by Atlanta’s Ilya Kovalchuk and Marc Savard forced overtime. The Thrashers (3-0-2-1) have earned a point in all six games this season.

Kovalchuk got the Thrashers within 2-1 with his sixth goal at 15:59. Marc Savard tied it from the low slot with 1:22 left in regulation.

Cory Stillman scored two power-play goals for the Lightning. He also had a pair of power-play goals in a 5-1 win over Boston on Oct. 10.

Stillman put the Lightning ahead 1-0 on a rebound goal at 4:47 of the first. He scored from in-close after Martin St. Louis’ shot hit the post.

Flames 3, Wild 2

ST. PAUL, Minn. – Rookie Matt Lombardi scored his first NHL goal and added an assist as the Calgary Flames beat the Minnesota Wild 3-2 Tuesday night.

With the game tied 1-1 in the second period, Lombardi unleashed a low shot from deep in the corner. The puck sailed along the goal line and was deflected into the net off the left skate of goalie Dwayne Roloson.

Calgary goalie Jamie McLennan, playing in place of the injured Roman Turek, stopped 20 shots to improve to 3-0.

The Wild are winless in five games (0-4-1).

Minnesota forward Richard Park, playing in his first home game after missing the season’s first five games because of a right knee sprain, scored his first goal 5:01 in to give the Wild a 1-0 lead.

The Flames answered early in the second period, tying it on Jarome Iginla’s first goal of the season. Lombardi gave the Flames their first lead three minutes later.

Calgary made it 3-1 early in the third period when Chuck Kobasew knocked in the rebound of Blair Betts’ shot.

Blues 6, Oilers 4

EDMONTON, Alberta – Jamal Mayers scored the go-ahead goal in the second period and the St. Louis Blues rallied from a three-goal deficit to beat the Edmonton Oilers 6-4 Tuesday night.

Mayers gave the Blues a 4-3 lead with his first goal of the season 5:26 into the period, deflecting in Murray Baron’s point shot after a weak clearing attempt by the Oilers.

Pavol Demitra got the Blues even just 15 seconds earlier, picking the far corner on Tommy Salo after curling around the circle. It was his second goal of the season.

Petr Cajanek made it 5-3 at 18:13 of the second with a power-play goal, his third goal in three games. Cajanek took a pass from Chris Pronger, while splitting the defense at the blue line, and beat Salo between his pads.

Salo was then replaced by Ty Conklin.

Doug Weight, Mike Danton and Barret Jackman also scored for the Blues.

Jason Smith, Marty Reasoner, Mike York and Ales Hemsky had goals for the Oilers, who won their three previous home games.

Hemsky scored a power-play goal at 11:22 of the third to make it close.

Chris Osgood, who replaced Brent Johnson after the Oilers led 3-0, made several good saves as Edmonton pressed for the tying goal late in the third. Osgood was tested often during an Oilers power play in the final three minutes.

Smith opened the scoring 3:28 in with his first of the season.

Reasoner made it 2-0 at 13:09 of the first, and York made it a three-goal advantage at 14:12 with his second goal in two games. His bad-angle shot seemed to roll up and over Johnson, making his first start of the season.

After Johnson was replaced by Osgood, Weight scored a power-play goal at 15:57 to put St. Louis on the board. Weight’s point shot slipped through traffic and beat Salo for his first goal.

Danton made it 3-2 at 17:20. Reed Low’s centering pass hit a stick, and Danton pounced on the loose puck in front of Salo.

Edmonton was 1-for-8 with the man advantage after breaking an 0-for-19 power-play slump with two man-advantage goals against the Colorado Avalanche last Saturday.

St. Louis went 2-for-5 with the man advantage and is 5-for-13 the last two games.

Notes: Osgood had a hip flexor injury last Saturday and was replaced by Johnson for the third period against Washington. … Hemsky and defensive defenseman Cory Cross had assists on Jason Smith’s first-period goal, giving them each points in three straight games.
