BOSTON – The Boston Bruins agreed to terms Wednesday with right wing Tom Fitzgerald on a 2-year contract.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Fitzgerald, 35, joins his seventh NHL team for his 17th year in the NHL. He played 69 games for the Toronto Maple Leafs last season, scoring seven goals with 10 assists and 52 penalty minutes. A native of Billerica, Mass., he played two seasons at Providence College before turning pro in 1988.

“Tom brings experience and leadership to our team,” general manager Mike O’Connell said. “Having grown up in here, he knows what hockey means to the Boston area. We look forward to having him on the team, and we feel he will be a good influence on our young players.”
