FOXBORO, Mass. (AP) – The New England Patriots signed 16 rookie free agents, including two 6-foot-4 wide receivers for a team seeking size at that position.

The team announced the signings Friday. They players were part of the rookie minicamp Friday and Saturday that includes 10 players drafted last weekend.

The tall wide receivers are Chas Gessner of Brown and Michael Hayes of Southern. The Patriots also added three other wide receivers, Rob Milanese of Penn, Dan Stricker of Vanderbilt and Kerry Watkins of Georgia Tech. The other offensive players added were guard Kyle Croskey of Central Michigan and tackle Jasen Esposito of Kutztown.

On defense, the Patriots signed linemen Buck Rasmussen of Nebraska-Omaha, Walter Sampson of Louisiana-Lafayette and Kevin Watson of Occidental, linebackers Jason Hunt of Cincinnati, Chad Lee of Louisville and Matt Word of Iowa State, cornerback Ricklan Holmes of Oklahoma State and safeties Chris Massey and Shawn Mayer of Penn State.

The Patriots have 90 players on their roster.
