LHA Festival of Arts concludes with awards

LEWISTON – The Lewiston Housing Authority held its 18th annual Youth Enrichment Opportunity Program (YEOP) Festival of Arts on May 19. On display was art work created by the children of the Hillview Family Development Complex.

The art program teaches children to enhance self-esteem and confidence through the arts. The children had an opportunity to sell their art work to local businesses and members of the community. The proceeds from the sales went directly to that child.

Also on display was an arts and crafts table and a sewing display from LHA’s Aspirations sewing club, “Sew Fabulous.” Along with the displays, the children performed various musical numbers.

In the YEOP music program the children learn to play various instruments as well as singing.

The YEOP program handed out many awards to the children for their accomplishments in art and music.
