FARMINGTON – “Bees and Your Woodlot, Part II” will be the topic of a workshop on Tuesday and Wednesday, June 9 and 10, in Skowhegan and Farmington.
The Skowhegan session will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Somerset Extension office off the Back Road. The Farmington session will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. in the lower conference room (access from back) of the town office on Route 2.
Matt Scott, founder and past president of the Maine State Beekeepers Association, will present a slide show of “Bee Pasture,” or what bees are pollinating for trees and flowers throughout the spring, summer and fall.
Scott will go through the identification of the tree and flower species and their bloom times and forage preference for bees. He will draw on 45 years of experience with bees.
The workshops are free and open to all.
The workshop is being put on through the support of the Maine Forest Service, the UMaine Extension Service for Franklin and Somerset counties, the Small Woodland Owners Association of Maine and the Franklin and Somerset SWCD.
