LEWISTON – The city of Lewiston has announced that Senior Principal Clerk Beth Marchesseault of the Accounting and Auditing Division has received the New States Government Finance Officers Association’s scholarship award.
Marchesseault is a junior at Husson University, South Portland, and will be entering her senior year in the fall. She is seeking a bachelors in accounting and is carrying a 4.0 grade point average. Her goal is to advance her career in municipal finance by becoming a staff accountant or internal auditor for state or local government.
In her employ with the city, she is charged with processing accounts payable and receivable, journal entries and various reconciliations.
“She excels when faced with a challenge, has a professional demeanor which allows her to effectively interact in a multi-personality group and her intellect and diverse background facilitates problem solving needs,” Deputy Finance Director Heather Hunter said.
The scholarship award is not the only recognition Marchesseault has received this year, as the City of Lewiston named her Employee of the Month in March.
