LEWISTON – Maine Family Federal Credit Union has announced its 2009 scholarship recipients:

Colby Morin, son of Anne and Charles Morin and Linda Morin, Lewiston, is the recipient of the Founders Scholarship. He will attend the University of New Haven to study digital forensics/investigative services.

Morin has been a contributor to the track and baseball teams at Lewiston High School and is a member of the Technical National Honor Society.

He has worked four jobs during his high school years and has volunteered at the Androscoggin Humane Society, the MPBN Great TV Auction, the Good Shepherd Food Bank and has done fundraising for the Lewiston High School swim team at the Great Falls Balloon Festival.

Michael Butler, son of Pat and Patti Butler, Lewiston, is the recipient of the Roger Bissonnette Scholarship. He will attend Clemson University in the fall and will study architecture.

Butler was the recipient of the Principal’s Award for Lewiston High School his senior year and served on the Lewiston School Board as one of two student representatives. He has been captain of his school tennis team and has been the number one singles player for the team for three years.

Butler was on the Lewiston High School mock trial and debate team for three years and was named captain of the team his senior year.

He volunteers for the Big Brothers Big Sisters program and works as a commissioned artist, drawing pen and ink renderings of peoples’ homes.

Amanda Martin, daughter of Dennis and Jeanne Martin, Lewiston, is the recipient of the Maurice Fontaine Sr. Scholarship. She will attend Cornell University and will study English and theater.

Valedictorian of the class of 2009 at Lewiston High School, Martin has been active in the Drama Club throughout high school, serving as publicist, vice president and president. She received a top 10 score in the state French test in grade 10, was co-captain of her intramural volleyball team in grade 11 and was accepted into the Maine All-State Choir her senior year.

She was also a participant in the Bates-Lewiston Writer’s Collaboration her junior and senior years.
