NORWAY – “The Memory of It…” a workshop in hot wax painting with mixed media, will be led by artist Heather Westleigh from 12:30 to 5 p.m. Sunday, June 7, at the Lajos Matolcsy Arts Center, 480 Main St.

Encaustic is a versatile medium that can be used to make abstract or representational images.

The workshop will cover the essentials of using the ancient colored-wax medium, including history, application, usage of hot tools, a brief explanation of how to make paint and the incorporation of mixed media.

Required heating tools will be available for use. The materials fee includes handmade encaustic paints, supports and a variety of mixed media options. The workshop fee is $50, with a materials fee of $25.
