RUMFORD – The 2008-09 winter season will wrap up for Black Mountain of Maine on Sunday, March 29, but not before a last hoorah. Sponsored by Rumford Hospital, Family Fun Weekend festivities will begin at 6 p.m. Friday, March 27, with the third and final Hill Climb.

Trophies will be awarded for the race that evening, and the King of the Hill awards will be presented for the winners of the series.

Saturday, March 28, will get off to a soaring start at 10 a.m. with a balloon race, followed by the backward race at 11. There will be a firehose race at 1 p.m. and a tug of war at 2:30. A torchlight parade will take place at 8 p.m. Participants must be age 12 or older to carry a torch.

The Egg McMogul race will begin at 9:30 a.m. Sunday, March 29. At 11 a.m. those wishing may test their skills on the obstacle course. From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., an a-la-carte style lunch will be served at the summit. People can take a $2 lift ride to the top for lunch. Rides up will be at 11, 11:30, noon and 12:30. Rides down will be at 11:30, noon, 12:30 and 1.

The Family Alpine Race will begin at 1 p.m. and pond skimming at 3. Awards will be presented at 4:15 just after the pond skimming ends.
