AUBURN – The Auburn-Lewiston YMCA will host a training program at its facility, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, March 20.
The Coordinated Approach to Child Health training will be facilitated by a certified trainer, who will present information in a discussion format and hands-on in the gym.
The program is an evidence-based coordinated school health program designed to promote physical activity and healthy food choices, and prevent tobacco use in elementary school-aged children.
The program has proven that establishing healthy habits in childhood can promote behavior changes that can last a lifetime by teaching children that eating healthy and being physically active everyday can be fun.
The training will provide a setting to learn more about the program and the benefits it could have in other programs. The training is also for those that are already using CATCH, as it will provide new ideas and ways to use the program.
CATCH is for schools, after school programs, recreation departments or any other type of program that is interested in promoting healthy lifestyles in children.
For more information on the training, contact Josh LaPrell, youth sports and family programming director at the Auburn-Lewiston YMCA, at 795-4095 or e-mail [email protected].
