PARIS – All juniors are mandated to take the SAT test at Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School on Saturday, May 2. Normally, the test costs $43 for each student. However, because the Department of Education has made the SAT a mandatory requirement, there will be no cost.

Testing will begin at 7:45 a.m. Transportation will be provided via school bus and sign-ups for school bus service are available in the school’s main office.

A free breakfast will be served for all students beginning at 7:15 a.m. After testing, a free spaghetti luncheon will be provided for students and their parents/guardians.

Additionally, $10,000 in scholarships will be raffled to students who are present.

Since May 2 is a mandatory day of attendance, all juniors who attend will be granted a day off from school on the following Monday, May 4.

In addition to the SAT, the state requires all juniors to take an augmentation to the test, which is designed to measure students’ understanding of math and science as it relates to the Maine Learning Results. The augmentation will be held on Thursday April 2, during the regular school day.

To better prepare students for the test, Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School has offered access to three SAT preparation programs at no cost.

PrepMe.com is a free program available only to Maine public high school students in their third year and who are scheduled to participate in the SAT initiative. Go to http://www.prepme.com/maine for more information.

The official SAT online course, a College Board product, has been made available year round to all students in grades nine to 12 free. Go to http://www.collegeboard.com for more information.

Additionally, OHCHS will offer a three-day intensive session to be held from 2:15 to 4:15 p.m. Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, April 27, 28 and 30, at the high school.
