BETHEL – Despite cold weather, the 11th annual New Year’s Bethel attracted several hundred participants beginning with the community potluck supper.
It was followed by the dragon parade, four venues, Judy Lee’s family show, the State Street Jazz Band, Senior Players, Ti’Acadie’s contra dance, and ending with the community sing-along with Lynn Arrizi at the piano.
The community bonfire for marshmallow roasting was canceled due to the high wind and the bell ringing was not held in light of the cold temperatures.
Many volunteers helped with the event, including Jim Mitchell, Tom Talarico, Jackie Van Leuven, Lucia and Eric Schwarz, Marvin Ouwinga, Gene and Ginger Kelly, Seabury Lyon, Ted and Linda Davis, Bonnie Pooley, Hal Mahon and Sylvia Vander Sluis, Bob and Barbara Dion, Walter Hatch, Susan Herlihy, Allen Cressy, Rosabelle Tift, Dean Walker, David Walker and Gary Inman.
