FARMINGTON – The Prescriptions for Health series topic on Wednesday, Jan. 21, will be cardiovascular disease, featuring cardiologist Paul Sweeney.
The program is a health education series that features local physicians who present on a variety of health and wellness topics. The series is free and open to the public.
Sweeney’s presentation will take place at 6 p.m. in the Chisholm Room at Franklin Memorial Hospital. Sweeney is the medical director for cardiopulmonary services at Franklin Memorial Hospital.
“Cardiac disease is very common in our community,” said Sweeney. “At this presentation we will discuss the more common presentations of cardiac disease, including typical symptoms, tests available for evaluation and potential treatment options. Significant time will be reserved for questions.”
Sweeney is a board-certified internist who specializes in cardiovascular diseases. He is also affiliated with Cardiovascular Consultants in Portland, which participates in cardiology specialty services held at Franklin Memorial Hospital.

A sampling of upcoming topics for the series will include hospice care; autism, ADD, and other developmental disorders; arthritis, tendonitis and bursitis; menopause; and diabetes management.
