Church supper

FARMINGTON – A spaghetti supper will be held from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 4, at Henderson Memorial Baptist Church, Academy Street. The menu includes spaghetti, salad, garlic bread, cake or brownie for $5 a person. The meal will benefit the church.

Scarecrow display

PHILLIPS – A Scarecrow Reunion display will run from Oct. 4 to 18 on Main Street. For more information, call 639-4296.

Seniors meet

LIVERMORE FALLS – The Livermore Falls-Jay Senior Citizens met at Murray Hall on Sept. 29 with 27 members present.

Chairwoman Shirley Couture opened the meeting with a prayer, salute to the flag and a moment of silence for departed members and for the men and women in the armed services.

Reported on the sick list were Lucille Frechette, Marie Leblanc, Dora Slovak, Betty Richards and Gerry Richards. A thank-you note was read from Betty Richards and Couture read a story.

September birthdays were celebrated with cake and ice cream. The 50-50 was won by Jeannette Buck and the raffle was won by Marilyn Desoto.

Beano will be played Monday, Oct. 6. The meeting was adjourned and cards and games were played.

Genealogy meeting

FARMINGTON – The Sandy River Valley Chapter, Maine Genealogical Society, will meet at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, at the Farmington Public Library. Eleanor Currier will talk about the early homes in Jay. Anyone who is interested in genealogy is welcome to attend.

Grange sale

JAY – North Jay Grange 10 will have a fall food and rummage sale from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 11. A light luncheon will be available with finger rolls and beverages, eat in or take out.

A country music show will be held upstairs at the North Jay Grange from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 11. Cost is adults, $5; children, $3. Entertainment will be by Barry Wood, the Pinkhams, Randy and Travis, Jim G. and Country Jim Palmer, and others.

Woodlot workshop

PHILLIPS – There is still time to register for the “Making a Small Woodlot Pay for Itself” workshop set for 8 a.m. to noon Wednesday, Oct. 8, in Phillips

The workshop, sponsored by Franklin County Soil and Water Conservation District, is being hosted by the Maine Forest Service and the Upper Kennebec Chapter of the Small Woodlots Owners Association of Maine. Patty Cormier of the Maine Forest Service will lead the session.

There is a $10 registration fee to cover the cost of refreshments and materials. The workshop will be held rain or shine. For more information, call FCSWCD at 778-4279.
