RANGELEY – The Wilhelm Reich Museum Sunday Nature Program for Aug. 24 will be “A Mushroom Walk” with Michaeline Mulvey. This will be the last Sunday Nature Program for the 2008 season.
Mulvey is a member of the Maine Mycological Society, a group made up of professional botanists and laymen with a strong interest in mushrooms. She will be leading the group through the museum trails to identify and discuss mushrooms. Participants are encouraged to bring their own field guide to mushrooming, if they have one, a knife, a basket, a paper bag and appropriate clothing, footwear and rain gear if necessary. The program will be held rain or shine. If you have mushrooms from home that you wish to have identified and/or discussed with Michaeline, please feel free to bring them along with you.
Attendees will meet at 2 p.m. at the sheltered outdoor classroom, which is a short walk, on the “Tomb” trail located up the hill at the Observatory parking lot. All the Sunday Nature programs are free.
The observatory details the life and work of renowned physician/scientist Wilhelm Reich. It is open Wednesday through Sunday 1 to 5 p.m. in July and August. In September it is open Sundays only from 1 to 5 p.m. Adult admission is $6; children 12 and under, free.
The nature program is funded by individual donors and a grant from the Wing-Benjamin Trust. For more information please call the museum at (207)864-3443.
