YWCA offers swim lessons

LEWISTON – The YWCA of Central Maine has begun swim lesson registration for the fall season for members currently enrolled in swim classes and Monday, Aug. 18, for the public.

Classes are available for all abilities starting at age 6 months to adult. They are held Monday through Thursday and on Saturdays. and will run from Sept. 6 to Oct. 30.

There will be no classes on Oct. 13 in observance of Columbus Day.

The cost is $63.50 for seven weeks and $69 for eight weeks of half-hour classes and $88.50 for seven weeks and $93.50 for eight weeks of hour-long classes.

Introduction to Competitive Swimming classes are $70 for members and $100 for nonmembers.

Participants in all classes except for Introduction to Competitive Swimming must be members of the YWCA. Membership is good for a year and allows swimmers the benefits of membership year-round.

Fees are: child up to 12, $30; youth age 13 to 17, $35; adult 18 to 59, $55; senior citizen, 60+, $45; family, $160 (up to six members living in the same household with a maximum of two adults).

Private swim lessons are also available by appointment. The cost for private swim lessons is $25 per half-hour or $45 per hour session.

Participants must be members of the YWCA. Private lessons are scheduled by appointment.
