POLAND – The Poland Historical Society will open the Old Schoolhouse to the public from 1 to 4 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 14.

Members of the Poland Historical Society will be available to give tours and answer questions.

There are some new displays this summer.

Afternoon tea

POLAND – Members of the Poland Historical Society will host an afternoon tea and open house from 1 to 3 p.m Saturday, Aug. 16, at the society’s headquarters, the Old one-room schoolhouse, Route 26.

The society is celebrating its exhibit of “Poland’s Citizens of Note,” which was made possible by a grant from the Davis Family Foundation.

Maynard Davis, the founder of Shaw’s Supermarkets, was a native of Poland and is featured in the exhibit along with other notable citizens of the town. All are invited.

Entree to health

LEWISTON – Dr. Kathleen Martin, a specialist in urogynecology, will explain surgical and nonsurgical treatment options for incontinence at an Entrees to Health Series program at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 27, sponsored by St. Mary’s Health System.

The free dinner presentation will be held in the Lepage Large Conference Room, 99 Campus Ave.

College workshop

LEWISTON – The Maine Educational Opportunity Center will host a free workshop on “Essentials of College Planning” at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 20, at the Lewiston CareerCenter, 5 Mollison Way.
